I am happy to report that I am doing very well and my right hand and thumb are basically fully functional. My thumb is still a little weak while performing some tasks involving pinching or gripping, but the range of motion is basically back to normal. I have a low level of pain (about a 1 or 2) in the base of my thumb while turning a car key or pushing the button on the gear shift, for instance. The area at the base of my thumb where the implant was installed is still a little sore at times, but the incision has healed completely and there is practically no visible scar.

All in all, I am very happy with the results of the surgery. My ability to type and play the piano is already much improved. It has only been two months, and I assume that as the healing continues even the lingering effects I described above will pass.
